Downtown Art Damaged

KSAL StaffSeptember 22, 2016

A sculpture is toppled in downtown Salina.

Police say sometime early Thursday morning, someone knocked over one of the concrete pillars that holds “Iron Valley” in the 100 block of North Santa Fe.

The four-part installation is part of the 2016 Salina Sculpture Tour and was crafted by Herrick Smith, a current graduate student at Ft. Hays State.

Damage to the piece is unknown.

Captain Mike Sweeney says an officer on patrol discovered the vandalism just before 3am Thursday.
