Computer Tech Scam

Authorities are once again warning Salina residents about scammers who are roaming the internet after a women’s computer was taken over by a criminal.

Police say the woman’s computer was experiencing technical issues in early February and she went on the internet to find help and called the number of a company she thought would solve her problem.

A person told her they could help for $100.

She paid the money and was then locked out of her computer. When she contacted the scammer, they apologized for the inconvenience and told her they would rebate her $500 if she bought iTune cards and sent them the codes.

The woman became suspicious and contacted authorities. Police say she is out her payment and still has no access to her computer.
