A project that has been on the drawing board for over a year is underway in downtown Salina.
Crews from Hutton Construction are in the early phases of adding a shade structure to the parking lot at the corner of Ash and Santa Fe.
Salina City Manager Jacob Wood tells KSAL News the metal roof will provide shade and amenities for the farmer’s market, performers and concert goers alike.

The concrete and steel project, which includes lighting and ceiling fans has an estimated price tag around $1.4 million.
