“Birthday Beatdown” Investigation Completed

The Riley County Police Department has concluded its investigation into a battery report involving members of the Manhattan High School football team.

The agency has been investigating incidents which have been described as “birthday beatdowns” involving Manhattan High School football players. Two players were beaten by teammates in a hazing ritual. The incident occurred on school ground

According to police, the case will be submitted to the County Attorney’s Office for a determination on charges. In addition to the original battery offense, a supplemental report has been completed for endangering a child and contributing to a child’s misconduct.
