Jose S. Martinez

Jose S. Martinez, 66, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026, in Salina.

Jose was born on October 20, 1959, in Zacatecas, Mexico, to Alfredo Martinez and Maria De Los Angeles Mendiola. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfredo Martinez; his stepfather, Crecencio Mendiola; his brother, Arturo Martinez; and his sister, Ortencia Martinez.

For 35 years, Jose shared a beautiful marriage with the love of his life, Olivia Martinez. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and unwavering devotion to one another. One of his greatest joys was dancing with Olivia, creating memories together that their family will forever cherish.

Jose is survived by his loving wife, Olivia Martinez of Salina; his children, Lisa Stalder (Mark) of Chapman, Kansas, Rosa Rezendes (Mike) of Watsonville, California, and David Martinez of Houston, Texas; his mother, Maria De Los Angeles Mendiola; his brother, Pedro Mendez; his sister, Graciela Hayden; eight beloved grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A dedicated and loyal worker, Jose spent his entire career in manufacturing. He worked for Exide Battery, MetlCast, and Great Plains Manufacturing, taking great pride in providing for his family. Even throughout his illness, his greatest wish was simply to get back to work—a true reflection of his strong work ethic and determination.

Jose was a simple man whose greatest treasures were not possessions, but the people he loved. He enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, spending time with family and friends, and never missed an opportunity to dance with Olivia. He was known for his kindness, loyalty, and the many friendships he built over the years. His quiet strength, generous heart, and steadfast love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 12, at 5:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral in Salina, Kansas, followed by the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 13, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral.
