Sarah JoAnn Matthews, 88, Tescott, died Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Village Manor, Abilene, while surrounded by her loved ones. She was born March 1, 1938, in Anniston, AL.

JoAnn and Charles R. Matthews were united in marriage on November 24, 1961. JoAnn was a beloved babysitter, and she worked as a para in the Tescott schools for several years. She had a love for everything Christmas.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Robershaw; husband, Charles; siblings, Ted, Troy, and Lewis; and niece, Debbie.

Survivors are her children, Amy Matthews and Michael Matthews; granddaughter, Kelsey Matthews (Brandon Sanders); niece, Shirley; many great-nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Little Bit.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., Sunday, April 12, at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 13, at the Tescott United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tescott United Methodist Church or Village Manor and may be left in care of the funeral home.
