LaVerne “Wes” Frank Wesley, 90, Salina, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2026, at his home, with his family at his side.
Wes was born February 5, 1936, in Ottawa County to Joseph and Anna (Prochaska) Wesley. He graduated from Ada High School in 1954. Wes attended Fort Hays State University and played basketball for the Tigers. On June 21, 1958, he married Constance Joyce Budke at St. John’s Catholic Church in Beloit. He worked 35 years as an Industrial Art and Computer Added Drafting teacher.
Wes coached basketball, football, baseball, and track in Paxico, Bennington, Burr Oak, and Minneapolis. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and especially golf.
Wes, Connie, and the girls traveled to 48 states in a camper for their summer vacations. They also traveled to Canada, Mexico, and Italy. After retirement, he really enjoyed wintering in Arizona.
Wes was a Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus while in Minneapolis.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna Wesley; sister, Darlene Stover; brother, Melvin Welsey; and daughter, Gala Sue Fief.
Survivors are his wife of 67 years, Connie Wesley; daughters, Marla Adkins and husband, Brad, Rhonda Most and husband, Kevin, and Barbara Hoskinson and husband, Steve; son-in-law, Gregory Fief; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and a host of cherished nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank all the staff from Gentiva Hospice for the amazing care they have provided to Wes and the family the past few days.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., Sunday, March 29 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467, where a prayer vigil and rosary will begin at 5:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 30 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1000 Burr Oak Lane, Salina, KS 67401. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
