She was born on April 27, 1923, in Enterprise, KS, to Alvia Monroe Rector and Florence Mae (Koeppen) Rector. They moved to Salina when Arlene was 4 years old.

In 1992, she married Harold F. Agin, a close family friend, and embraced his children, James Agin (Sally) and Janette Gilchrist (Frank). They were married 15 years before Harold’s death in 2007.

During the war, Arlene did clerical work under war-time civil service for Air Transport Command at Smoky Hill Air Force Base. In later years, she worked as a bookkeeper for Mowery Clinic, did insurance for Salina Family Physicians, and was a proof-reader and secretary for Consolidated Printing Company.

Arlene was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the church WELCA and Lois groups. She also held active memberships in the Salina Regional Health Center Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and was a charter member of the local Alzheimer’s Support Group.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husbands, James Sias and Harold Agin, and stepchildren, James Agin and Janette Gilchrist. She is survived by her children, Alan “Pete” Sias (Ruth) and Kathleen Kelly; ‘bonus daughter’, Sally Agin; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.
