Betty J. Rassette, 93, of Salina, KS. passed away on February 12, 2026, in Salina. She was born on January 20, 1933, in Frankfort, KS. to Vester and Edith (Thomas) Leinweber.
Betty graduated with a master’s degree from Kansas State University and taught for over thirty years with most years being at Salina Central High School. She was a department chair and Foods teacher. Towards the end of her career, she also taught Science.
Betty enjoyed traveling. She had visited every state. Betty and her husband Richard went on five different cruises with a Mediterranean cruise being her favorite. The highlight of her travels was her trip to Kenya, Africa.
Betty was a member of Sunrise Presbyterian Church. She served as an Elder and on various committees. She spent her spare time volunteering for Meals on Wheels, the Morrison House, and Red Cross. She loved preparing food and serving on Fridays at Salina Grace. She was a member of Silver Needles and loved to quilt. Her family has many heirlooms of her beautiful quilts.
She is survived by her son, Brian (Sue) Rassette of Leawood, KS. and daughter Diane (Randy) Shandy of Bartlesville, OK. Four grandchildren, Joe (Molly) Rassette, Anna Rassette, Lisa (Adam) Augustine, Amy (Bryan) Kelley. Six great grandchildren, Logan, Aubree, Josie, Jude, Frankie and Archie with two more on the way. She loved the moments when her entire family would get together.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, and her brothers Elliot and Vester Leinweber.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7th, 2026, at 10:30am at Sunrise Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heifer International, Salina Grace or the CASTLE Program at Sunrise Presbyterian Church.
