Jerry Tryban

Jerry Tryban of Salina, Kansas, passed away on February 2, at the age of 74. He was born in May 1951 to Ed and Frances Tryban and was raised in Roanoke, Virginia. After high school, Jerry spent four years in full-time volunteer work for Jehovah’s Witnesses, printing Bibles and study aids, and continued to spend the majority of his life teaching the Bible to others.

Jerry met a local Salina girl, Trudy Martin, at a friend’s wedding, and they married in 1975. They raised three children together in Smolan, Kansas.

Jerry enjoyed playing tennis and golf and was well known by many locals as “Jerry the Janitor,” as well as for his unique, boisterous laugh.

He is survived by his wife, Trudy; sons, Joshua and his wife, Jessika, of Crescent City, California, and Nathan and his wife, Xiomara, of Loveland, Colorado, along with grandson, Jonah; daughter Molly Dahl and granddaughter, Aubree; sister, Suzy Cannon of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Tom.

No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2085 Hageman Ave., Salina, Kansas 67401.
