Mary Kathleen Kindel, known as Kathy, age 74, of Aurora, Kansas, passed away Monday, February 2, 2026 in Aurora, KS surrounded by her family. Kathy was born on March 6, 1951 to John & Velda (Geisler) May in Concordia, KS
She graduated from Concordia High School, where she met the love of her life, Gene Kindel. They were married on April 14, 1969 and together they had five children, Kathleen, Mike, William, Allen & Kevin.
For many years, Kathy worked at Scott Specialties. She was a member of the Aurora Altar Society and St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Kathy enjoyed sewing, crafting, and tending to her flowers, but above all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid bird watcher and enthusiast.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Miller (Tony), Aurora; her sons, Mike Kindel (Jackie), Concordia; Allen Kindel (Missy), Aurora; Kevin Kindel (Jennifer) Aurora; 11 grandchildren, Kahlie Noah (Brinttain), Katlynn Miller, Hannah Blaske (Max), Julia Kindel, LeLe Kindel, Rustyn Kindel, Kyler Kindel, Will Kindel, Wade Kindel, Keyan Miller & Sean Kindel; brothers, John May, Jr. (Karen), Concordia, Jerry May (Lavonne), Concordia & Jeff May (Chris), Salina; sister, Angie Rader (James), Nolanville, TX; sisters in law; Anna Marie “Amber” Charbonneau (Ray), Dewey, OK, Anita LaBarge (Mark), Aurora, Gloria Blackwood (Steve), Clay Center & Linda Kindel, Concordia; brothers in law; Donald Kindel (Geraldine), Victoria, David Kindel (Jan), Carthage, MO, Raymond Kindel (Jolene), Aurora, Stephen Kindel (Susan), Aurora, Richard Kindel (Sheri), Aurora & Daniel Kindel, Manhattan; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, John & Velda May, her husband, Gene; an infant son, William; brother, David May and her sister, Carol.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am, Friday, February 6, 2026 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Aurora, Kansas, with Fr. Michael Leiker officiating. Burial will follow at St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas. A luncheon will be served at the K of C Hall in Aurora for family and friends following the graveside service in Concordia.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary service at 6:00 pm on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the church in Aurora, the family will receive friends after the rosary service.
