Larry Lee Horting, 86, Bennington, died suddenly on Monday, December 29, 2025, at his home. He was born December 25, 1939, in Tescott, to John Lee and Helen Horting.
Larry graduated from Tescott High School and attended Kansas University and Kansas Wesleyan.
He was united in marriage to Carolyn M. Nisbeth in Bennington on June 27, 1959. To this union were born two children, Carol Sue and William Lee.
Larry served in the Kansas National Guard. He was a horse lover, and, in this capacity, he was a co-founder of the Tescott Saddle Club, which he served as president and other offices. He also served as president, director, and other offices of the Eastern Kansas Horse Association. Larry was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association.
Most of his working life was as a commercial electrician, but his passion was cattle and farming.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Carolyn on February 15, 2022.
Survivors are his children, Carol Sue Horting and William Horting; sister, Susan Wagner; three grandchildren, Michael (Crystal), Cody, and Devon (Felicia); and great-grandson, Forrest.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, January 2 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 3, at the Tescott United Methodist Church. Burial will be on Larry and Carolyn’s farm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tescott United Methodist Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.
