Bonnie Jean Trost was born March 31, 1951, the first of 4 children born to Robert C. and Imogene L. (Snavely) Trost in Concordia, Kansas and passed away on December 16, 2025, at the Salina Regional Health Care Center, Salina, Kansas at the age of 74.
As a child, she attended country school in the Huscher community. She graduated from Concordia High School in 1969. She worked at St. Mary’s convent while attending Cloud County Community College and then transferred on to Kansas State University and received a degree in early child development in 1974.
She came back to Concordia and worked at Cloud County Bank for a number of years before returning to K-State to get her 2nd degree in Horticulture, the knowledge she gained she used for the rest of her life as she gardened and grew a variety of flowers. She worked at a number of banks over the years First Bank & Trust, Peoples Heritage Bank, UMB Bank, as the ownership of the banks would change.
The last 20 years of her working years were spent at the Clerk of the District Court office in Cloud County. In her retirement years, she enjoyed planting her flowers and also enjoyed watching the birds and feeding them during the winter months.
She was a member of the Huscher Community Church, and she planted flowers every spring and summer to add a touch of beauty. She was an avid K-State fan and enjoyed following the football and basketball teams.
She is survived by her brother Larry, his wife Fran & their 4 children Erin Herman (Aaron), Adam Trost (Morgan), Nathan Trost, Michael Trost, all of Concordia, KS; and her sister, Cindy Trost also of Concordia, KS; she is also survived by 7 great nieces/nephews: Emma Herman, Abby Herman, Anders Herman, Ezra Herman, Justus Trost, Kyla Trost, Gracie Trost. She is also survived by her uncle & Aunt, Armand & Jane Snavely of Concordia, KS, and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death, by her parents, brother Mickey, and her grandparents.
Visitation will be held 1-8 pm on Monday, December 22, 2025, with the family receiving friends from 6-7 pm, all at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas.
A Celebration of Bonnie’s Life will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, with Pastor Randy Whitley officiating. The burial of her cremains will follow in the Nelson Center Cemetery, Huscher, Kansas. There will be a meal served at the American Legion Post #76 following the committal service.
