Dennis C. Woodall, M.D.

Dennis C. Woodall, M.D. was born November 13, 1955, in Salina KS. In the 69 years that Dennis lived he was many things to many people. He was a husband, dad, son, grandson, nephew, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and trusted physician.

Isaiah 30:21: Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

Dennis was blessed with intelligence, and after graduating from Salina South High in 1974 he heeded that call which came in his freshmen year of high school, and he enrolled at K-State as a Dane Hansen Scholar to study pre-medicine and statistics. While working on his master’s in statistics, he was accepted to the KU School of Medicine in Kansas City finishing in 1988. While at KSU he was inducted into several honorary fraternities, Phi Eta Sigma, Alpha Epsilon Delta, and Phi Kappa Phi.

Wichita’s St Joseph Hospital started his residency in family practice for one year, and he completed his last two years at Smoky Hill Residency in Salina KS. After 35 years as a family practice physician in Bennington for several years and the remainder in Salina, Dennis retired. He enjoyed all his patients, but he had a special fondness for his senior patients. He also served as the Volunteer Medical Director for Bennington, KS for 30 years.

Dennis was united in marriage to Yvonne Anderes on March 5,1994. In addition to Dennis’ son, Kyle, their union welcomed daughters; Taylor,  Alexis and Emily

During his spare time away from his practice, he loved outdoor activities. Dennis’ Uncle Wayne can be credited with creating a love for hunting and fishing, and as a result many White-tailed deer have been mounted and numerous fish caught. After purchasing his first house in the country he became a vegetable gardener enjoying the fresh bounty and canning the surplus to enjoy over the winter. He could also be found at auctions and antique stores looking for the next perfect addition to his collection. Dennis also enjoyed attending son, Kyle’s, football games plus K-State games, and supporting his daughters, Taylor and Emily, in their 4H activities.

Those who knew Dennis will remember him for his intellect, yet humble spirit. At K-State in his social group his quick wit, jokes and storytelling abilities made him the center of attention creating much laughter and fun. That sense of humor was also enjoyed by colleagues, friends and family over the years.

In addition to the pride of his family, Dennis was also proud of authoring two books, “Impending Wisdom” and “Class Revenge”. However, his Bible, which showed wear of devoted and consistent use over the years, became the most important book which brought him strength and comfort.

Dennis was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Alexis Christine, his  parents, Burdette and Ruth (Sims) Woodall; his stepfather, Richard McRell; in-laws, Vincent and Virginia Anderes; and brother-in-law, Bill Anderes.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Yvonne; son, Kyle Woodall (Brie);  daughters, Taylor Woodall, and Emily (Dylan) Pickering and their daughter, Gracyn Ann expected in December; sister, Kim Woodall; McRell step-siblings, Larry (Sherilyn) McRell, Mike (Joann) McRell, Brian (Bridget) McRell, and Julie (Pete) Joynka; Anderes in-laws, Rhonda Foth, Greg(Sharon) Anderes, Diane(Rodney) Shoemaker, Kim (Kevin) Svoboda, Mark (Jill) Anderes, Mike Anderes, and Lisa Elliott; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
