Lonnie Vern Adamson

Lonnie Vern Adamson, of Salina, Kansas passed away Tuesday, September 9th, 2025 at his home. He was born September 5th, 1934 in Valley Center, Kansas to William E. And Pauline (Wise) Adamson.

Lonnie grew up in Valley Center and graduated high school in 1952. After graduation he attended both KU and Wichita State.

He started working at Beechcraft in Wichita and eventually left to work for LTV Aerospace in Dallas, Texas.

Lonnie met his wife Janice on a blind date after his first marriage had ended. They were married on September 23rd, 1971 in Geneseo, Kansas. Their blended family included 6 children. After living in Texas for almost a year, they moved to Salina.

He worked for Barragree Rental for 26 years becoming general manager and eventually part owner. After retiring, he started a small job at Target which turned into a second career. During this time he was sent to several states to help open new stores. His Target career lasted 20 years. Even after retiring from Target he still stayed busy delivering Meals on Wheels for a time.

For many years he was a member of the Salina Kiwanis club and served as president of the local Genealogy Society. He traced his own family tree back to the early 1700’s.

Lonnie was a generous, friendly, kind, loving person whose number one priority was his family.

In addition to his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by an infant brother and a cherished younger brother, Darrell “Skeet” Adamson.

He is survived by his wife Janice, of the home, a brother Gary (Connie) Adamson of Three Rivers Michigan, and a sister, Debi (Keith) Werth of Gypsum. Two sons, Robert Adamson of Salina, and Terry ( Dawn) Adamson. Four daughters, Cindy Adamson of Ft. Worth Texas, Brenda Adamson (Tye Baker) of Salina, Anita (TJ) Crabill of Granbury, Texas and Linda (Vernon) Smith of Watauga, Texas. Grandchildren, Brittanie (Matthew) Sinisgalli of Lawrence, Kansas, Megan Adamson of Wichita, Kansas. Ashley Adamson, Cody Adamson, Jordan Adamson, Julia Crabill, Josh Crabill, Heather Crabill, and six great- grandchildren. He is also survived by our adopted family in Germany. Kenneth Stabenow, his wife Lisa and their three children, Connor, Ellie and Ruby.

Visitation 1 to 2 pm Monday, September 15, at Trinity United Methodist Church with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2 pm.
