Timothy “Tim” D. Meyer, age 74, of Sylvan Grove KS, passed away Monday, August 21, 2023, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, KS. He was born on March 7, 1949, in Ellsworth, KS to Forrest and LouBelle Meyer.
He married Janet Staats on October 31, 1981. He and Janet lived in Sylvan Grove, KS where he worked as a cattleman. Tim enjoyed being involved in the cattle industry from ranching and cattle feeding to trading feeder and finished cattle. Over the years he became very involved with the local, state, and national cattlemen’s associations. Throughout his career in the industry Tim served as the Lincoln Co. Cattlemen’s Association Director, the Chairman of the Kansas Beef Council Executive Committee, and was a board member of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s Checkoff Division. He also had a passion for raising and showing Quarter Horses and was a 50-year member of the American Quarter Horse Association.
Tim was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
He is survived by his brother Chris Meyer (Pam) Sylvan Grove, KS, brother Kirk Meyer (Karen) Otsego, MN, brother-in-law Roger Staats (Susan), Manhattan, KS, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
To honor Tim’s life, there will be a Barbeque lunch served at the Sylvan Grove Sale Barn on Saturday, September 16, from Noon to 2 PM.
A Tim Meyer memorial fund has been established at Bennington State Bank, 102 N Main Street in Sylvan Grove. All memorial contributions will be used for Sylvan Grove community improvements.
