Wichita Schools Victim to Potential Hacking

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) – Wichita school district officials say the district is looking into a hacking attempt on one of its computer systems.

The Wichita Eagle reports that superintendent John Allison sent an email to all district staff Monday informing them of the hacking attempt. The district also said there’s no evidence the attempt involved any student records.

District spokeswoman Susan Arensman said in an emailed statement that the district is working with law enforcement and an outside cyber-security agency to determine the extent of the hacking attempt.

She says officials have also taken down some of the district’s computer programs as a precaution.
