Wichita Couple Charged with Endangering Children

A domestic dispute boils over on Interstate-70.

Deputies from the Saline County Sheriff’s Office arrested a couple from Wichita, after their return trip from Colorado turned into an argument and drug charges for both.

Sheriff Glen Kochanowski tells KSAL News that on Tuesday afternoon at 5:30pm officers were called to mile post #240, about 4-miles from the Ellsworth County border to interview a man who had ran out of gas on I-70.

Deputies noticed an odor of marijuana and an open container of alcohol in the vehicle along with a 7-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl.

The man told the officers he and his girlfriend had a dispute over his driving and that she had taken their infant son and caught a ride in a van. She got out at the Ellsworth exit and then rode back with an officer to her boyfriend’s car.

Deputies found marijuana products inside the vehicle along with pot pipes and charged both 35-year-old James Clark and 25-year-old Teaa Ardry with felony possession of marijuana and child endangerment.

The three children were later released to family members.
