Truck Rolls Multiple Times

A call in regard to a person screaming led to the discovery of a single-vehicle crash late Monday night.

According to Saline County Sheriff Captain Roger Soldan, deputies were called at 10:55 Monday night to the area of  K 143 / Old 81 Highway, about 2.5 miles north of Salina. They discovered a 1996 Ford Ranger pickup truck on its top in a ditch, and the driver out and walking around.

Soldan says that 57-year old Larry Goppert of Assaria had been traveling east on K 143. He left the road near the intersection, went across Old 81 Highway, and rolled several times into a ditch.

Goppert sustained multiple injuries including a laceration to an elbow, and possible broken ribs and collapsed lung. He was transported by EMS to the hospital in Salina.

Soldan says that the crash is still under investigation, and that citations might be issued.
