Trio Charged in Kidnapping

A picture shared on a cell phone leads to three arrests after a woman is beaten and dumped in an alley.

Police Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that an investigation began Tuesday after a student showed a resource officer at school a picture of a woman being held down and beaten.

Captain Sweeney says the group accused her of stealing money from them, “They all proceeded to start beating on her, kicking her, writing obscene messages on her body,” he said.

The investigation led to the arrests of 35-year-old Corey Jackson, 36-year-old Ondrya Biles and 16-year-old James Waller all of Salina.

Police say 34-year-old Krista Dean suffered a fractured back, a broken occipital bone and injuries to her cheek bone.

Police allege the torture began around 7am inside a house at 616 S. 9th and ended around 1pm after the victim was dumped out of a car and left in a north Salina alley.

Sweeney tells KSAL News the group allegedly wrapped the woman up in a blue blanket and placed plastic under her head and neck so the blood would not stain the back seat of the vehicle. Krista Dean was able to find a friend for help. Investigators used information from the the cell phone image to connect the suspects to the crime.

The trio is now facing multiple charges that include aggravated battery and kidnapping.
