A near head-on collision northeast of Brookville sends two drivers to the hospital on Tuesday evening.

According to Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan, 18-year-old Kyle Came of rural Salina and 30-year-old Ashley Sterns of Brookville were both transported to Salina Regional Health Center after a crash on Schilling Road just east of Brownhill Road at 6:50pm.

Deputies say Sterns’ eastbound 2003 Dodge Ram truck and Came’s westbound 2000 Chevy Silverado crested a hill at the same time and clipped each other after Sterns had drifted over the center line.

The collision sent Came’s truck rolling into the ditch – coming to rest on its top.

Came complained of back and neck pain, while his 15-year-old passenger suffered a possible collarbone injury and was taken for treatment by a personal vehicle.

Sterns was transported by EMS to the hospital with an arm injury.
