Teen Shot Following Robbery

A 15-year-old boy was injured by a self-inflicted gunshot after he allegedly robbed a convenience store in Abilene.

According to Abilene Police, officers on Thursday responded to Casey’s General Store at 201 S. Buckeye to the report of an armed robbery. A person entered the store with a handgun, and demanded cigarettes and cash.

A short time later police located the suspect walking in the area, and a short foot pursuit began. Police say that during the pursuit the suspect suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the leg.

The victim, identified as a 15-year-old boy, was transported to the hospital in Salina. He was treated and released back into the custody of the Abilene Police Department.

The teen could face charges that include aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.
