SUV Crashes Into Guardrail

The Kansas Highway Patrol says a pilot and his passenger escaped injury when a small, twin-engine plane made a crash landing near an airport.

Three people are hurt in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 near Salina.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 26-year-old Jordanne Lemuz of Salina was driving a 2003 Toyota Sequoia, As she merged from northbound Interstate 135 onto westbound Interstate 70 she lost control. The SUV slid into a guardrail.

Lemuz was hurt, as were two passengers. They are 22-year-old Taylor Thorne and 13-year-old Madison Talber, both from Larned.  All three were transported to the hospital in Salina, one by ambulance and two by private vehicle.

Troopers say that Lemuz and Talber were buckled up. Thorne was not.

The crash happened Saturday evening at 6:28 at the I 135 / I 70 Junction north of Salina.

There appears to be a lot of crashes at this interchange. I wonder if KDOT will ever consider rebuilding it to change the configuration of the on and off ramps?

You might be right Keith…maybe something should be done. Before they blow a bunch of money trying to make it idiot proof, how about asking the ones that have a problem using it make some changes? Things like paying attention? yield?….using their signals when exiting or entering?….maybe even use a little common courtesy and exercise some road manners instead of their middle finger?
It seems like it’s “every man for themselves” ….gimme gimme gimme…sigh.
