SPD Trims Paper Use

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has again certified the Salina Police Department to send criminal statistics and incident reports via a digital format.

SPD’s Technical Support Supervisor Arlene Frederiksen tells KSAL News that the police department has been sending stats in a bundle of  paper to the K.B.I. through the mail over the past two years.

Frederiksen says the change came after SPD switched their computer platform from IBM to Microsoft in 2011.

The certification will help save time on both ends of the chain, as information shared with the K.B.I. is then sent the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
