Somber Saturday Start to River Festival

KSAL Staff - June 11, 2016 11:13 am

festival emergency

It was a somber start to the second full day of the Smoky Hill River Festival in Salina’s Oakdale Park.

Shortly after the gates opened at 10:00 a festival-goer suffered a serious medical condition. The person was headed to grab a shady spot in front of the Eric Stein Stage when he collapsed.

Medical professionals on scene administered first-aid until Salina EMS arrived and took over. The victim was transported to Salina Regional Health Center.

The Salina Municipal Band was scheduled to perform at the time, but delayed beginning their performance while first responders were on the scene.

That is to bad. You would think there would be a Salina EMS stationed at the event. Is there a reason one is not?
