Sheriff’s Office Exempted From Conceal Carry

Saline County Commissioners approve a request by Sheriff Glen Kochanowski to exempt his office from citizens carrying concealed guns.

The sheriff said that he is not trying to exempt his entire building from concealed guns, but rather just certain areas of the building. The sheriff would like concealed guns to still be allowed in the lobby, but for there to be adequate security so as not to allow them past the lobby and back into other areas.

The sheriff said “I don’t have a problem with concealed carry, but when I am trying to secure a law enforcement center I need to take the appropriate steps to make sure everyone is safe”.

The exemption request passed 2 -1. Commissioners Jim Gile and John Price voted to approve it, while Commission Chairman Randy Duncan was against it.
