Salina Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash

A Salina man is killed in a motorcycle crash near Wilson Lake.

KRSL radio in Russell reports that at approximately 11:50 AM Saturday, Russell County 911 Dispatch received a report of a motorcycle accident near the east end of the Wilson Lake Dam.

Officers from the Russell County Sheriff’s Office along with Russell County EMS, Lucas and Russell Fire, Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, and US Corps of Engineers responded.

Upon arriving at the scene, it was found the accident occurred just south of the 232/181 intersection and involved a single motorcycle driven by 64-year-old Dennis C. Knouf of Salina.

According to a Sheriff’s Office press release, Knouf was traveling north on Highway 232 when his motorcycle went into the east ditch and wrecked coming to rest just south of the intersection.

Knouf was pronounced dead at the accident scene by the Coroner’s Office.

He was wearing a helmet.

A further investigation as to the cause of the wreck continues.
