Officials are urging citizens to not make it quite so easy for thieves.

According to the department, in October there were ten stolen vehicle reports. Of those,  seven had the keys left inside.

There were 24 reported thefts from vehicles. In 21 of those cases the vehicles were unlocked.

Police urge to not leave keys in a vehicle and to always lock the doors.

Here are other tips to avoid being a victim:

• Park in well-lit areas
  
• Never leaving valuables in your vehicle, especially where
  they can be seen
  
• Never leaving the area while your vehicle is running
  
• Keep your vehicle in your garage, if possible
