Rifle Brandished in Driveway Dispute

A rural Saline County man was arrested Thursday after allegedly brandishing a rifle during an altercation involving a partially blocked driveway.

Saline County Undersheriff Roger Soldan says that 39-year-old Michael Torrence arrived home at around 3:30 in the afternoon to a house he is renting in the 1800 Block of Rosehill Road in rural Saline County south of Salina. A truck and trailer being used to help harvest wheat was partially blocking the driveway.

Torrence allegedly got into a dispute with a 63-year-old man.

Torrence parked his motorcycle in the area of the farm vehicle and walked to the house. He returned with a rifle and allegedly pointed it at the man.

Torrence was arrested on charges that could include aggravated assault. His rifle, a Ruger Mini-14 was confiscated.

No one was hurt in the incident.
