Police: Quiet New Year’s Eve

Salina Police Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that overall, calls and disturbances were down as celebrations around Salina were relatively quiet.

Sweeney says there were only a few complaints about fireworks being discharged, but no DUI arrests were made.

Officers out during a special Impaired Driver Deterrence Patrol made 11 traffic stops and performed two roadside tests.

One person was cited for reckless driving.

Captain Sweeney credits local cab companies for providing free rides home for tipsy drivers.
