Police Plan Special Seat Belt / DUI Patrol

Salina Police will be out in force Friday evening looking for seat belt violations.

Lt. Russ Lamer tells KSAL News that three officers and one spotter will be working around the city from 9pm to 11pm Friday, looking for occupants who are not buckled up.

Citations for unrestrained adults are $10 while the citation for children under 18-years old who are not buckled up is $60 plus court costs of $55. The extra hours for officers is paid for by a special night time seat belt enforcement grant.

A special Impaired Driver Deterrence Program will then be rolled out from11pm Friday to 3am Saturday.

Officers will be looking city wide for drivers who appear to be impaired.
