KSAL Staff - January 16, 2014 10:23 am

Salina Police stayed busy following the Smoky Hill River Festival Jam Thursday night looking for drunk drivers.

Salina Police issued multiple citations on Wednesday night for seat belt violations.

Lt. Russ Lamer tells KSAL News that officers focused on occupants who were not buckled up in vehicles moving through two intersections on 9th Street; at 9th Claflin and 9th and Crawford.

Police say they made 19 vehicle stops and issued 18 citations to adults.

Lt. Lamer says that citations for unrestrained adults are $10 while the citation for children under 18-years old who are not buckled up is $60 plus court costs of $55.

Santa Claus is that you? I got my stateist-mandated seatbelt on. Can I shine a light in YOUR car while blocking the street?
