Police Investigating Weekend Shooting Death

Junction City Police are investigating a weekend shooting death.

According to a news release, around 2:45a Saturday morning officers from the Junction City Police Department and Deputies from the Geary County Sheriffs Office were called to the area of 10th & Webster in reference to a report of a shot being fired in the area.

When they arrived, a Geary County Sheriff’s Deputy found 37-year-old Anthony Darnell Nixon of Junction City lying at the southwest corner of the intersection of 10th and Webster suffering from a gunshot wound.
Junction City Fire EMS was called to the scene and upon checking found that the he had died.

Police were told that there had been an altercation in the area earlier in the morning but Police had not been called.

Police are asking anyone who may have information on this shooting to call the Junction City Police Department at 785-762-5912 or Crimestoppers at 785-762-TIPS. Those persons calling may remain anonymous and any information that may lead Police to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for this crime may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
