Police Identify Overpass Jumper

KSAL Staff - October 28, 2013 10:51 am

Salina Police identify the victim of an apparent suicide.

According to Lt. Scott Siemsen, 42-year-old Daniel William Zeller, was found unresponsive under the North Broadway Overpass on Friday morning at 11:06am by EMS.

Zeller, whose last known address was in Sylvan Grove, was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.

Salina Police Lt. Gerald Shaft told KSAL News at the scene that a passing motorist on the Broadway Overpass saw a man standing near the edge, with what appeared to be a rope around his neck. The motorist passed, and as he looked back the man was gone. He turned around, discovered the man on the ground below the overpass, and called for help.

Police found some of Zeller’s personal items nearby including a coat. Lt. Siemsen says the incident is being investigated as an apparent suicide.
