Night Optics Missing

A soldier’s night vision goggles are stolen.

According to Sheriff Glen Kochanowski, deputies are investigating a theft case after a backpack is removed from a staging area for Kansas Army National Guard training at 5440 S. Englund Road.

Authorities say 29-year-old Estevan Decker of Newton, Kansas left his bag containing the goggles with a collection of other packs, then realized it was missing on Sunday afternoon.

The night vision gear is valued at $3,600 and was issued by the Kansas National Guard.

Decker’s Kansas Army National Guard company is based in Wichita.
