Looking for Lincolns

She’s on a mission to collect a million pennies in the fight against childhood cancer.

Roxanne – from the Morning Show on Y93.7 FM, is heading to area schools to team up with students to help in the fight against cancer. “Kids get it right away, they know they can make a difference and help kids who are their own age – by finding pennies,” she said.

“I love hanging out with these kids who bring a smile and a can-do spirit to raising $10,000 in change.”

All money raised will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The center is internationally recognized for its pioneering research and treatment of children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. St. Jude is the first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children.

Roxanne will be at Oakdale Elementary School in Salina on Tuesday, then a stop at Waters True Value, she visits Chapman on Wednesday with a stop at the 1st National Bank, and South Middle School in Salina on Thursday before stopping by Jim’s Chicken.

Penny donations can also be dropped off at all Bank of Tescott locations.

Last year area students raised $8,076.97 to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The school that collects the most pennies per student will win a traveling trophy, and a pizza party for the entire school from Papa John’s Pizza in Salina.
