Labor Day Candidate Forum Planned

A Labor Day candidate forum is planned in Salina.

Salina’s first general election candidate forum will start on this Labor Day Monday. It will be at Ad Astra Books and Coffee. 18 local, state and federal candidates vying for local support will participate.

The Salina Area Workers Coalition,  a local non-profit volunteer organization, is hosting the forum.

Each candidate will be allocated four minutes to introduce themselves, tell why they are running for office, and explain how they support worker issues. Following candidate presentations there will be time for questions from the audience.

Prior to the candidate engagement, Mayor Kaye Crawford and County Commission Chair Monte Shadwick will welcome everyone with comments related to support for city and county employees, which will be followed by questions.

Salina jazz/R & B Band A.M. will open the evening at 5:30 p.m. The forum will begin at 6:00.
