Kansas Wesleyan University and Salina Area Technical College are becoming partners.

According to KWU, the schools have signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding, the first of its kind between the two institutions. KWU President and CEO Dr. Matthew Thompson and Dr. Wayne Lowen, Provost, signed the agreement with Greg Goode, SATC President, and Pedro Leite, Vice President of Instruction.

The MOU provides confirmation that Salina Tech students who wish to continue their education at Kansas Wesleyan may transfer all of their earned general education credits and up to 30 technical credits.

“This partnership with Salina Tech enables Kansas Wesleyan University to assure students who are interested in transferring that their credits will transfer and that these individuals become welcomed members of our community,” said Dr. Mark Bandré, KWU Vice President for Enrollment Management. “The agreement recognizes the quality education that is occurring at Salina Tech and assists with the goal of enabling qualified students to complete their education in a timely, affordable manner.”

While especially excited about this SATC partnership that benefits the Salina and Saline County community, Kansas Wesleyan in recent months has signed MOUs and articulation agreements with 20 other community colleges and technical colleges around the state and region. The articulation agreements pertain to students who complete an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree at a partner school, and they provide assurance for these students of admission to KWU along with transfer of their credits.
