Kansas Nurse Convicted of Defrauding Medicaid

A Wichita area nurse has been convicted on federal charges accusing her of taking part in a scheme involving more than $700,000 in fraudulent Medicaid billings.

The Wichita Eagle reports that 48-year-old Caela M. White-Kinchion, of Bel-Aire was convicted by a federal jury of one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and 11 counts of health care fraud. She was acquitted on one additional count of health care fraud. Her sentencing is set for Aug. 26.

White-Kinchion was accused of being a co-conspirator in a scheme to bill Kansas Medicaid for health care services that were never provided. The 11 guilty counts of health care fraud included fraudulent billing amounts in excess of $700,000.
