UPDATE: Child Recovered; Alert Cancelled

A Kansas Amber Alert prompted by a missing baby in Topeka was cancelled early Thursday afternoon, about an hour and a half after it was issued.

According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, 1-month-old Kaleb Thomas had taken by his non-custodial father at approximately 10:00 Thursday morning. The suspected abductor was 19-year-old Edward Alberty.

At around 12:40 the alert was cancelled. The KBI reported that the baby was recovered, and the suspect was in custody.

A Kansas Amber Alert for a missing baby in Topeka was issued late Thursday morning.

According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, 1-month-old Kaleb Thomas was taken by his non-custodial father at approximately 10:00 Thursday morning. He was last seen at 2013 Bellview, Apt. E, in Topeka. Kaleb was wearing a white shirt, gray/white camo pants, and a gray beanie top.

The suspected abductor is 19-year-old Edward Alberty. He is a black male, standing 6′ 2″ tall and weighing 250 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, gray sweats, and Nike tennis shoes.

Alberty left in a 4-door car, believed to be a 2005 Chevy Malibu. It is dark blue with Kansas tag 374HYC.
