Hail Damages Sheriff’s Vehicles

Three Saline County Sheriff’s vehicles were damaged while on patrol during Sunday’s round of he severe weather.

Undersheriff Roger Soldan reports that over $5,000 in hail damage was done to two Ford F-150’s and one Ford Explorer that were caught in the storm.

A 2014 Explorer’s windshield was smashed by hailstones at the Niles exit on I-70 causing over $3,600 in damages while a 2013 F-150 had over $1,400 in damages done near the Saline/Dickinson County line on Sunday.

A third vehicle, an F150 was also raked by hail near the Brookville exit on I-70.

Severe weather rolled through Central Kansas late Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening, dropping hail larger than baseballs in northern Saline County.
