Flight Test Program Expansion In Salina

The Kansas Department of Transportation Secretary is scheduled to attend a special meeting of the Salina Airport Authority to discuss the expansion of a flight test program.

KDOT Secretary Mike King will be at the meeting regarding Bombardier Flight Test Center programs, the importance of State of Kansas support, and the project’s impact on future operations at the Salina Airport.

Since 2009 the Airport Authority has leased hangar space to Bombardier’s Bombardier Flight Test Center for aircraft storage. A proposed new lease would consolidate the program’s hangar space at the Salina Airport into one hangar. By consolidating the operations it also expands capability to store and operate larger aircraft at Salina.

Among other benefits for Salina the project will result in additional air traffic count and increased fuel sales.

The special meeting in Salina is scheduled for Tuesday.
