A fire destroyed a trailer hauling ten hay bales Saturday afternoon.

According to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, Jerry Short was hauling the load of hay, on 1648 N. Brownhill Road near Brookville when the bales caught fire.

The fire destroyed the trailer, which had just been bought. Officials believe that the fire was started by the combustion of the hay .

Total loss is listed at $4,500.
