Salina Police

Salina Police will be out in force over the Thanksgiving holiday week looking for impaired drivers.

Lt. Russ Lamer tells KSAL News that extra officers will be working around the city from Tuesday evening through Sunday morning.

Funding from the Special Traffic Enforcement Program will place three extra officers on patrol city wide on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11:30pm until 2:30am.

A special Impaired Driver Deterrence Program will be rolled out from 11:30pm Wednesday until 2:30am Thursday morning with four extra officers and a supervisor patrolling around Salina for drivers who appear to be impaired.

How many illegal summons will be written during this time period? What is being done about the rude confronted behavior of those officers pulling auto’s over. How about their new game of following someone for a couple of miles without any lights on then pulling them over for speeding. Seems we got a new police chief but he does not have a finger on how bad his officers are.
