A Salina man has been paralyzed from the waist down after a two car crash last week.

Police Captain Paul Forrester tells KSAL News the collision happened under a yellow traffic light at the intersection of Broadway and Crawford around 5:45am Wednesday morning.

Police say 69-year-old Paul C. Powell was driving a 2016 Nissan Versa southbound on Broadway and turned in front of a northbound 2015 Ford Fiesta driven by 27-year-old Samoaisasa’e Lutui of Salina.

Powell was hurt and transported to Salina Regional Health Center.

Captain Forrester explained his injuries were serious, leaving him without the use of his legs.

Both drivers were cited for failure to yield.
