UPDATE: Suspect Killed in Deputy-Involved Shooting

A suspect was shot and killed during a struggle with deputies from the McPherson County Sheriff ‘s Office.

According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, on Thursday afternoon at about 3:00 McPherson County Sheriff Deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant on Highway 56, about .2 mile west of 19th Avenue. While trying to complete the arrest, the subject physically resisted and a physical altercation ensued between the subject and the two deputies.  During the altercation, one of the deputies deployed his Taser in multiple modes and numerous times with no success.

The suspect continued to resist arrest and struck one of the deputies in the face numerous times.  The second deputy issued commands for the subject to stop. but he did not comply.  The subject approached the second deputy, physically attacked him, and resumed his striking of the first deputy.  The second deputy deployed his service weapon, striking the subject.

Officers immediately rendered medical aid to the subject until EMS personnel arrived on scene.  The subject was transported to McPherson Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

This incident was captured on video and will be reviewed during the continuing investigation.

The KBI is conducting an investigation regarding this incident.

ORIGINAL: Authorities were on the scene late Thursday afternoon of an officer-involved shooting in McPherson County, along Highway 56 at 19th Street. That location is a few mile east of McPherson.

Few details were immediately available, but the the McPherson County Sheriff’s Office confirms the shooting involves a deputy.

The shooting happened at around 3:00 Thursday afternoon.

3pm Thursday and its about 8am Friday and no reporting on this story. Did the reporter stop at a bar? Very poor reporting.

Clemens, do you know ANYTHING about news reporting? Clearly, news agencies had to WAIT for the KBI to release the details before they could any updating to the story. Stories like this cannot be updated just because YOU want them to be! Reporters are at the mercy of law enforcement agencies when it comes to these types of things! Would it perhaps be more suiting to you of reporters fabricated the facts to satisfy you rather than waiting for them to be released?? Very poor commenting, Sir!

Clemens, do you know ANYTHING about news reporting? Clearly, news agencies had to WAIT for the KBI to release the details before they could do any updating to the story. Stories like this cannot be updated just because YOU want them to be! Reporters are at the mercy of law enforcement agencies when it comes to these types of things!
