Dangerous Heat Settling Into Kansas

Dangerous heat has settled into Central Kansas, prompting heat warnings.

Heat warnings, and advisories, have been issued for much of Kansas. The Salina area, and areas to the north and east are under an excessive heat warning through Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, above normal temperatures are expected to persist through the weekend. Dangerous heat will develop during the middle, to the end of the work week.

Officials urge caution for those who have to be outside for long periods of time. Among other things, try to avoid direct sunlight and drink plenty of fluids. Never leave a child, or a pet, unattended in a vehicle.

Remember everyone can suffer from heat related illnesses, with the young and elderly especially susceptible.
