Dangerous Heat Continues Through Weekend

A blast of dangerous late summer heat will continue through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, the heat wave will continue across Kansas through the upcoming weekend. Afternoon heat indices of 100 to 104 degrees expected.

A heat advisory is in effect for northeast Kansas through Saturday night.

Officials urge caution for those who have to be outside for long periods of time. Among other things, try to avoid direct sunlight and drink plenty of fluids. Never leave a child, or a pet, unattended in a vehicle.

The triple-digit heat is expected through early next week.
