Fake Money Used At Salina Government Office

More counterfeit money has surfaced in Salina, including at a government office.

According to Salina Police, a counterfeit $20 bill was passed on Tuesday of this week at the Casey’s convenience store at 1100 East Iron. It was discovered in a bank deposit.

On Tuesday, and on Wednesday of this week, a pair of counterfeit $10 bills were used at the City of Salina Water Department Office. One was discovered in a bank deposit and the other was discovered at the office.

Earlier this week a 62-year-old woman contacted police after her bank told her a $20 bill that she tried to deposit was a fake. The woman told officers she was given the counterfeit $20 in return for babysitting.

A Salina woman received a counterfeit $10 bill in change back from the Burger King on E. Iron on Monday afternoon.

When counterfeit bills are confiscated by law enforcement they are then sent to the Secret Service for further investigation.
