CKF Campaign Receives Large Donation

About a weeks ago, a Salina organization that cooperates with multiple agencies in treating substance abuse announced an expansion project and fund raising campaign. A large donation has already been made to the Central Kansas Foundations’s Pathfinder@50 Capital Campaign.

According to the organization, a significant gift was awarded from the Elden V. Miller Family Charitable Trust, which pledged $50,000 towards an expanded residential detox and treatment center and to renovate existing living spaces. The gift will also help meet the challenge grant issued by the J.E. & L.E. Mabee Foundation.

Over the past 5 years, rapid growth in the demand for detoxification services and residential treatment has caused a backlog of patients and a need to expand physical resources. Renovation and expansion includes: a medical treatment room, the addition of a 24/7 physician’s office and our “bed space” will be expanded by ten beds and the current bed/living space will be renovated.

A 30% expansion in treatment capacity means wait times for services are reduced and more people are able to receive treatment immediately. The generous gift from the Elden V. Miller Family Charitable Trust will support the community by helping more people find their path to recovery.

Central Kansas Foundation will need to raise approximately $400,000 by December 31, 2014, to qualify for he challenge grant.
